Outdoor Spaces in Lancaster County – Manheim Township

Our area has a lot to offer when it comes to outdoor public spaces.   There are lots of parks in Lancaster County, there’s hiking, walking trails, and more. Spending time outside can do wonders, whether it’s for exercise, play, or leisure. Come by yourself or bring friends along!

This is post #2 in a series where we highlight the spaces available throughout the county, let’s talk about what you can find in  Manheim Township!

Community Park (209 Petersburg Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601)- 33.5 acres with outdoor pavilions available for rent (one with a kitchen!), softball field, basketball court, two volleyball courts, playgrounds, and four horseshoe pits.

Landis Woods (2369 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601)- 70 acres with a focus on preservation! Enjoy the hiking paths and the small museum inside the Boettcher House Environmental Education Center. You can also rent the house for special events!

Jaycee Park (1031 Edgemoor Ct, Lancaster, PA 17601)- small neighborhood park with a stream, grills, picnic tables, talk tubes, slide, shaded picnic areas, and more!

Overlook Community Campus (301 Golf Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601)- this is a one stop shop! Within 140 acres, this space includes a pool, golf course, mini golf course, library, skating rink, disk golf course, playgrounds, dog park, and restaurants.

Municipal Park (304 Clay Rd, Lititz, PA 17543)- plenty of room for sports! This park has four soccer fields, two softball fields, and a batting cage. Also located here is the police building, ambulance association, and of course, the Township’s Municipal Building. 

Skyline Park (245 Eden Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601)- home to Skyline Pool (also open to people outside of the Township!), a walkway/bikeway, lighted football field, basketball court, and volleyball court.

Reidenbaugh Park (1001 Buckwalter Rd Lititz, PA 17543)- part of Reidenbaugh Elementary School, this space is focused on sports! Four tennis courts, one volleyball court, one basketball court, two softball fields, playground, paved walking trail, and more!

Stoner Park (1280 Winchester Dr, Lancaster, PA 17601)- complete with a walkway/bikeway path wrapping around the outside of the park, this space has eight exercise stations, soccer fields, volleyball court, basketball court, and a playground. 

Perelman Park (1996 Landis Valley Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601)- bring your kayaks and canoes to enjoy the Conestoga River! Or take a walk along the nature trail and visit the butterfly garden in the summer months. 

The History of 225 N Broad St & The Power of the Lititz Historical Foundation

You may have seen a pretty unique Downtown Lititz home from 1869 on my Facebook or Instagram- that was one of our listings (now pending of course!) and I knew we just had to ask the Lititz Historical Foundation to get the background on it!

The Lititz Historical Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the rich history of Lititz. They also have the Lititz Museum and Johannes Mueller House, which are home to artifacts, exhibits, family heirlooms, and more.

You can support the foundation by becoming a member or purchasing a ticket for a guided tour of the Mueller House or their 2023 Lititz Departed Spirits Tour this October! 

The amazing volunteers there pulled together an extensive report of the history of the home and it’s owners.

Lancaster County & Beyond Market Update- March 2023

Another month, another market update for not only Lancaster County, but also our surrounding counties!

Numbers. They make the world go round, some say math is a universal language. The thing to remember about numbers is that they simply are.  What does that mean?  They “are”?  Well, it means, despite what someone on a Tiktok, Instagram or tv channel says, the world is not ending.  The market is not crashing.  Far from it actually.   Let’s see what the numbers say, and of course, if you ever want to discuss any of this, you can always call us at 717-371-0557!

Compared to February, things are getting a little busier, which is exactly what we expected!

When it comes to the median and average sold price for March, numbers are holding steady.  Don’t believe the hype friends, home prices are stable and still rising at “normal” appreciation levels.

Lancaster County Market Update- February 2023

The February numbers are in for Lancaster County! Let’s take a look.

Another month of opportunity for lots of sellers and buyers.  Let’s take a quick look at some numbers that you might find useful!

Half of homes sold for less than $260,000.  As we said last month, there are affordable homes out there, they are simply selling quickly.

The average sales price is a bit different than the median, in the way it’s calculated.   They aren’t too different this month though!

302 new listings and 331 listings under contract in February.   New homes are coming on the market all the time, and they are selling fast.  There’s a home out there for you, you can buy, you just have to be as fast as everyone else!  Your best way to do that is to talk to us.  Let’s get you ready before you see the home you love, so when you do see it, we can move quickly.

Zooming in, here’s where we’re at for the Warwick School District.  The median sales price is a point where the exact middle is, and like most of the county, lots of affordable opportunities pop up each month, as the median is where you find half the sales under that price, and half the sales over it.

Hidden Kitchen Storage Ideas

Take some pressure off yourself- hidden kitchen storage is coming back! You can hide that mismatched dishware behind closed cabinet doors, rather than displaying it on open shelving.

According to fixr.com, 53% of designers say that hidden storage in the kitchen will be a 2023 trend.

Make the most of your kitchen cabinets by considering the following:

For next to your oven…

Blind corner space- add cabinet pullouts or half moon lazy susan!

For next to your fridge- a pull-out pantry! Great for spices, cans, bottles, foil, Ziploc bags, and more!

A solution for the second-most disorganized cabinet (Tupperware takes first place)- sliding rack for pots and pans!

For the lids, use Command Hooks on the inside of your cabinet door. Thekitchn.com suggests “You’ll just need two Command Hooks per lid, and you’ll want to work out your positioning before you start sticking things on. Once you have a general idea where things should go so that the cabinet can still close, affix a hook at 8:00 and 4:00 (pretending your lid is a clock face) and slide your lid in.”

Online Video Open Houses

Time and time again I’ve heard home buyers tell me that pictures are the most important part of an online listing.  I love the fact that today’s technology allows me to take that one step further and do videos!  Why video?

Well, pictures show you just that, pictures.  And only pictures.  There’s no flow, no connection, no ability to bring in “context”.  Video tours allow me to walk you through the home just like you were there in person.  It’s like your very own personalized Open House, on your schedule!

One of the ways I utilize video is doing live, on the spot tours on Facebook, leveraging the world of social media to spread the word about your home for sale!  Another is youtube and hosting the video on a property specific url on my other site to maximize search engine traffic for your address.  When we get together in person I’ll tell you all about it and how it works!
